Mark is the founder of Power One Group and the original entrepreneurial spark behind the business.

Still heavily involved in the day to day running of the business, with a significant focus on steering the Board and Management team to ensure the successful delivery of the Company’s 5 year Strategic Plan the “20/20 Vision” , and growth to £30m turnover with a sustainable EBITDA.

An electrical engineer by trade, Mark started out with Balfour Kilpatrick Ltd in the summer of 1987 He quickly gaining a reputation for having a problem solving approach combined with a “can do “attitude, traits which remain at the core of the business today.

Balfour Kilpatrick put Mark through a solid six years at college and office engineering training which would form the platform for his success to this day. This left a deep impression with Mark, who believes this is the way forward as we tackle the ever increasing dearth of skilled trades. True to his original training and beliefs, Mark has been the driving force behind a formal Electrical and Street lighting apprenticeship scheme, in conjunction with West College Scotland which has seen 5 Apprentices taken on within the group in 2016.

With Mark as MD the business commenced trading in November 2004 on a sole trader status and became incorporated as a Limited company in 2007.The last 10 years has seen the group deliver a vast number of projects, building the digital network and decommissioning the old analogue network. Things quickly starting gathering momentum by providing an excellent service with technical solutions, which has also seen the group move into other markets such as Street Lighting, LED Installation, Off Shore Electrical Work, General Electrical Contracting and belatedly the Independent Electrical Connection (ICP) Market Place.

The company has grown from strength to strength under his stewardship growing each year from its inception through the worst recession in recent history. With a new Management Structure and team in place, and the Group turnover forecast for £10 million in 2016, of which £8million is secured Mark has moved into the position of Chairman.

Mark still relishes the challenges and problems that we and our customers face and takes great delight in resolving them together.
